The Mansfield Memorial Museum Exists to Honor, Preserve, and Share the Rich History of Mansfield.

Established in 1889

The Mansfield Memorial Museum is the oldest museum in Richland County. The founder, Edward Wilkinson (an avid collector of specimens and artifacts for the Smithsonian Institute, Carnegie Natural History Museum, and Peabody Field Museum), established a varied and extensive collection from which the museum has continued to grow. The museum features multiple collections, including major wars, natural history, a repository for many public documents from Richland County and the City of Mansfield, and the industrial history of Mansfield, including Westinghouse’s home of the future and the oldest American robot, ELEKTRO, as featured in the Worlds Fair 1937-38 in New York.

We invite you to visit and share in the rich history of North Central Ohio.

The Mansfield Memorial Museum is temporarily closed.

We hope to reopen the Frank P. Lahm Aviation portion in May 2024.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the museum. Click here to express your interest in volunteering.

While we are closed, the space is still available as a meeting place for all organizations, and allied organizations, of present and former soldiers, sailors, and marines. Click here for ways to contact us about using the space.

As we look forward to reopening, we will be working toward transitioning the focus of the museum more on military history and the people of our community who served in the armed forces.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this transition period.
